Episode 22: Lina Rahouma, BASc

Lina Rahouma

It’s ok whatever happens, if you get into the program of your dreams or if you don’t there’s something else waiting for you that is meant for you so go in with that mindset and that perspective and it will help a lot throughout the process”

Lina Rahouma, BASc

Lina Rahouma is on the podcast this week to talk to Sarah about her application process and what she learned about herself throughout. Lina is a week away from starting her practicum at Sick Kids Hospital, and she discusses why she ultimately chose the PMDip over a master’s program and how she fought back against imposter syndrome while working on her applications.

Lina entered the Ryerson Food and Nutrition program at Ryerson straight out of high school. In order to give herself as much time as possible on her applications, Lina finished her resume and cover letter early and advises current fourth years to do the same. By starting early she not only gave herself extra time on her applications, but also allowed for more time to research where she wanted to apply. Despite starting early, Lina still struggled with self-doubt and imposter syndrome which she dealt with by putting in more work.

The hard work she put in paid off as Lina found herself having to decide between several programs, including the big picture decision of masters or PMDip. Both her young age and her desire to work with children’s nutrition played a huge part in her decision to accept the offer to complete an internship at Sick Kids Hospital. She is eagerly awaiting the start of her program, and hopes to one day help create new ways to connect children with food and nutrition.
