I remember one time she said, “Jackie, I don’t think your dream career exists yet, but you will make it happen!”
Jackie Silver, MHSc, RD
Sarah kicks off season 2 (!!!) by sitting down with the amazing Jackie Silver, MHSc, RD, a dietitian who is passionate about empowering people with disabilities to improve their health and wellness. Jackie was born with a vascular malformation in her left leg, so she understands the struggles and barriers to healthy living that people in the disability community face every single day.
In this episode, Jackie tells Sarah about a series of health scares that left Jackie with a greater appreciation for the patient experience, but also with lingering health anxiety. In fact, not too long before her own in-patient hospital rotations as a Dietetic Intern, Jackie was in an in-patient unit as a patient.
Jackie chats about some of the practices she would like to see change within the world of dietetics to make it more inclusive and accessible for all. She has recently passed both the CDR and the CDRE and launched her own private practice, Jackie Silver Nutrition.
